Ask my readers what they love to hate about my books, and they’ll likely say “Her effing cliffhangers!” Personally, I’m a fan of the old cliff, or as I like to call him, Mr. Cliff H. Anger. Whether it’s the Hunger Games movies, Game of Thrones show, The Walking Dead, or the Outlander books, I hate being left wanting more, but I LOVE the anticipation of getting my next fix! I mentally mark the date, perhaps I ensure a bowl of popcorn is handy, and I might even invite friends over to share the fun. Cliffy takes just another book, movie, or TV episode and creates an event. It’s kinda fun!

Anyway, despite my love of Mr. Anger, not all of my books end with him. Some are complete standalones and others are standalones with teasers. What’s the dang difference? The first is self-explanatory, but the latter?

It’s a GREAT question!

A cliffhanger pauses a story, leaving the main plot line and major character conflicts unresolved.

A standalone story with a teaser, on the other hand, ends with the main characters’ issues resolved, along with the primary plot, but introduces a new conflict to be resolved at a later date (in my case, that’s another book.)

For example:

ROOK, Part 1 of Mr. Rook’s Island Series, ends with us learning a few big secrets about the man, but we still don’t know what’s happening to guests on his island or how the heroine, Stephanie, is going to avoid death for failing to deliver on her promise to a very bad man who hired her. Complete cliff!

SMART TASS, Book 1 of the OHellNo Series, ends with us knowing exactly where TASS and HUNTER stand. The conflicts around their relationship are resolved, and we know they’ve found their happy ever after. But…but! What’s this? Her roomie, Elle, shows up at the end, and clearly something horrible has happened to her.

Oh no! It’s a teaser for (and a sneaky plug for my new release…hehehe)…

OH, HENRY, Book 2 of the OHellNo Series, picks up somewhere in the middle of SMART TASS’s timeline and tells us what was happing between ELLE and HENRY before ELLE’S big meltdown at the end of SMART TASS. I won’t give anything away, but I will tell you that it ends with another teaser for Book 3.

So rest assured, you won’t be left wondering where HENRY and ELLE stand, but if I’ve done a good job, you’ll be pounding me over the head for DIGGING A HOLE.

Anyway, whether you love Mr. Anger, hate Mr. Anger, or you’re somewhere in between, now you know the truth: He’s had a love child with Miss Standalone. And her name is Tease R. Anger. (Okay, I tried to make it a cute name.)

Hope you enjoy my new release, OH HENRY, available August 25th! Be sure to hit my GOINGS ON page for a chance to win some signed paperbacks and other goodies.

From New York Times Bestseller, Mimi Jean Pamfiloff, Comes OH, HENRY, Book Two of the Ohellno Series. (Stand Alone Story w/ a Teaser for the Next Book)

SHE’S GOT ME BY THE FOOTBALLS…

My name is Henry Walton, and though I’ve been called many things throughout my life—tree trunk, moose, walrus—I am now six foot five, solid muscle, and the hottest defensive end in the NFL college draft. This is the moment I’ve been waiting for: fame, women, and glory.

Just one problem: I’m suddenly in a bad slump. And it started the moment I got dumped by Elle, the nerdy goddess with thick glasses, a smokin’ hot body, and a genius IQ.

So what gives? We only dated for a few weeks, and it’s not like I’ve missed her. (Much.) Regardless, all the facts point to one conclusion. Elle is my lucky nerd-charm.

Call me superstitious, but I have to get her back before I lose everything. Even if she’s the last girl I should want and she now hates my guts.
